Xi'an's wall gives you the clearest possible reading of the old city. From the ramparts, the Bell Tower marks the centre, four ceremonial gates define the compass, and dense historic neighbourhoods sit inside a modern metropolis. The Muslim Quarter adds the human layer: it is a residential and religious district made up of many lanes, not a single snack street. Combining the two makes a much stronger visit than treating either as a quick photo stop.
