The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda（大雁塔） is the most recognisable surviving Tang landmark in Xi'an（西安）, but the modern visitor district around it can obscure the monument. North of the tower, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda North Square（大雁塔北广场） hosts fountains and evening crowds. South of it, the Grand Tang Mall（大唐不夜城） becomes a long performance-and-light corridor. Shops, restaurants, sculptures and traffic surround the precinct. The historic pagoda itself stands inside Da Ci'en Temple（大慈恩寺）, behind a separate controlled entrance.
