Yin Xu（殷墟） is not one intact palace waiting behind one gate. It is an archaeological landscape around Anyang（安阳）, with major components on both sides of the Huan River（洹河）. The Palace and Royal Ancestral Shrines Area（殷墟宫殿宗庙遗址） preserves foundations, burials and excavated features associated with the late Shang capital. The Royal Tombs Area（殷墟王陵遗址） is a separate component across the river. The new Yin Xu Museum（殷墟博物馆） provides the objects, reconstructions and chronology needed to understand what survives outdoors.
